About The Organization
Our History
Help, Understanding and Guidance (HUG) Foundation is an offshoot of HELP US GROW, a non-governmental organization founded in 2018 with the vision of providing comprehensive care and aid to underprivileged children while promoting basic quality education for their wholesome growth.
HELP US GROW’s activities started off with occasional visits to schools for pep talks and donating writing materials to contribute to the academic welfare of the students. It then morphed into organizing educational programmes and local community outreaches which made sustainable impacts.
The success of our programmes meant growth was inevitable. Our volunteer base subsequently increased exponentially within a short period of time. This led to a restructuring aimed at enhancing our productivity, increasing our impact and reach, and contributing more to the personal development of volunteers while providing a platform to give back to society through a structured system.
Our extremely diverse group of volunteers, supported by a transparent leadership structure, have since created and developed a bigger version that takes into account the holistic care and support of children and young adults.
HUG Foundation has its operations guided by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is open to partnership with people, groups and organizations with the intention of making our world a better place for children and young adults.
Leadership
Ola Oyinlola
Chairman
A London-based Sports Agent who leads the HUG Foundation board. Holds a Law degree from Nottingham Trent University and has worked at Irwin Mitchell Solicitors, CBRE and Adecco. Recently appointed Policy Adviser to the Oyo State Governor's Special Assistant on Youth and Sports.
Oluwatimileyin Bolawa
Chief Executive Officer
Responsible for the overall operations of the foundation. A graduate of the University of Ibadan, where he studied Early Childhood and Educational Foundations, majoring in Communication and Language Arts.
Yusuf Akinyemi
Director of Operations
Manages the daily running of the organization, overseeing the operational policies that guide its vision and mission. Graduated from the University of Ibadan with double honours in Adult Education and Communication and Language Arts.
Quadri Dauda
Media and Communications
Manages communication and media duties within and outside the foundation. A graduate of Yoruba Language Education from the University of Ibadan.
Waliyah Oladipo
Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Lead
Oversees the management of projects within the foundation from idea to results. Final-year Law student at the University of Ibadan and Team Lead at The Ibadan Review.
Oluwatumininu Olutayo
Recruitment, Learning and Development Lead
Onboards volunteers and helps develop best practices in volunteering, organizing workshops, seminars and trainings. A graduate of Agronomy from the University of Ibadan.
Oladoyin Folarin
People and Business Engagement Lead
Leads the unit connecting volunteers with the foundation's purpose and building lasting relationships with other organizations. Studied a double major in Science Education and Chemistry at the University of Ibadan.
Faruk Fakorede
Secretary
Serves as the communication link between the organization and the outside world. A graduate of Early Childhood Education from the University of Ibadan.
