Our History
Help, Understanding and Guidance (HUG) Foundation is an offshoot of HELP US GROW, a non-governmental organization that was founded in 2018 with the vision of providing comprehensive care and aid to underprivileged children while promoting basic quality education for them to attain wholesome growth.
HELP US GROW’s activities started off with occasional visits to schools for pep talks and donating writing materials to contribute to the academic welfare of the students. It then morphed into organizing educational programmes and local community outreaches which made sustainable impacts.
The successes of our programmes meant growth was inevitable. Our volunteer base subsequently increased exponentially within a short period of time. This led to a restructuring aimed at enhancing our productivity, increasing our impact and reach, and contributing more to the personal development of volunteers while providing a platform to give back to the society through a structured system.
Our extremely diverse group of volunteers supported by a transparent leadership structure have since created and developed a bigger version that takes into concern the holistic care and support of children and young adults.
Help, Understanding and Guidance Foundation has its operations guided by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and it is open to partnership with people, groups and organizations with the intention of making our world a better place for children and young adults.
Leadership
Ola Oyinlola
Chairman
Ola Oyinlola is a London based Sports Agent and leads the HUG Foundation board. He holds a Law degree from Nottingham Trent University and has worked at leading global firms including Irwin Mitchell Solicitors, Coldwell Banker Richard Ellis (CBRE), Adecco, amongst others.
Ola advises athlethes, sports organisations and was recently appointed Policy Adviser to the Oyo State Governor’s Special Assistant on Youth and Sports.
Oluwatimileyin Bolawa
Chief Executive Officer
Oluwatimileyin Bolawa is responsible for the overall operations of the foundation, while fostering growth and mutual relationship among all.
Timi as he is usually called is a graduate of the University of Ibadan, Nigeria where he studied Early childhood and Educational Foundations and majored in Communication and Language Arts (CLA).
Yusuf Akinyemi
Director of Operations
Yusuf Akinyemi manages the daily running of the organization by overseeing operational policies that guides the implementation of the vision and mission statements of the foundation.
Yusuf graduated from the University of Ibadan, with double Honors in Adult Education and Communication and Language Arts (CLA).
Quadri Dauda
Media and Communications
Quadri Dauda manages communication and media duties within and outside the foundation.
Quadri is a Graduate of Yoruba language Education from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
Waliyah Oladipo
Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Lead
Waliyah Oladipo oversees the management of projects within the foundation from ideas to the results stage.
Waliyah is currently a final year Law student at the University of Ibadan and also serves as Team Lead at The Ibadan Review.
Oluwatumininu Olutayo
Recruitment, Learning and Development Lead
Oluwatumininu Olutayo onboards volunteers and helps to develop best practices in volunteering, organizes workshop, seminars and trainings.
Tumininu is a Graduate of Agronomy from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
Oladoyin Folarin
People and Business Engagement Lead
Oladoyin Folarin leads a unit of the foundation dedicated to connecting volunteers with the set purpose and goals as well as establishing long-lasting relationship with other organizations.
Doyin FOLARIN studied for a double major in Science Education and Chemistry in University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
Faruk Fakorede
Secretary
Faruk Fakorede is the Secretary of Help, Understanding And Guidance Foundation. Faruk serves as the communication link between the organization and the outside world.
Faruk is a Graduate of Early Childhood Education from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
