HUG celebrates her annual December Community Outreach

Help, Understanding and Guidance Foundation hosts its annual December Outreach tagged LOVE and LIGHT. As we have done since 2018, the theme of the event is basically a reflection of the highlight of the year.

In Nigeria, 2020 was a tough year for everyone. The breakout of the deadly coronavirus pandemic held the country’s economy hostage - this was particularly a distressing point in the lives of Nigerians who live in rural communities in the country.

This informed our decision to serve as an array of light to those set of Nigerians during these tough times and to show them we empathize with them and we will do what we can to help.

Unlike past outreaches that center on children of local communities, this year, the difference was our ability to bring the whole community together. We highlighted basic human physiological needs and concluded that they deserve food, water and rest most importantly from the distress and trauma that a very difficult year has had on them.

Our intent was to serve as an escape from their reality and jolly and merry all day. Our evaluation was that we achieved this feat with the telling smiles and words of prayers and gratitude from the residents of Ishabiyi Community, Moniya Ibadan in Oyo State, Nigeria.

To the committee members and everyone who made sourcing for clothes, food and other resources available, we appreciate you all, we will do more, let us do more.
